Cyber Monday Question : Does Christine Quinn Use NYPD To Monitor Activists ?

2012-11-26 Cyber Monday Question - Does Quinn Use NYPD to Monitor Activists

Does Quinn Use NYPD To Monitor Activists ?

NYPD continue to monitor peaceful activists in violation of the Handschu Agreement. In this latest case, NYPD officials are visiting this blog even though NYPD refuse to answer to a Freedom of Information request by the author of this blog.

Remember, this is on top of the fact that there have been allegations that Speaker Quinn has instructed the NYPD to use physical force against the author of this blog.

If Speaker Quinn can't find a way to violate due process by firing you, then she puts the NYPD on the case, to harass and cybermonitor you ?

Christine Quinn uses NYPD to curb free assembly

Does the NYPD ban the rights to assemble and free speech ?

In support of Christine Quinn's effort to prevent activists from taking pictures of her with protesters in the background, the NYPD not only violated our first amendment right to free assembly but also pushed a blogger with a camera who was trying to take a photo. The end of the pushing episode was caught on camera.

Our tax dollars are paying for an entourage of Quinn's handlers and a chauffeur to take her to her campaign fundraisers and for her security detail and the NYPD to block our right to free assembly.

YouTube Censors Political Video

By claiming copyright infringement, EMI has disrupted free expression and harmed the Internet.

After 457 views and 5 comments, YouTube has blocked a video critical of New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 226 countries, according to information made available by YouTube.

You have disputed a copyright claim on your video, Christine Quinn's Puppet Show and Political Farce (Term Limits Remix).

All content owners have reviewed your video and confirmed their claims to some or all of its content:

Entity: EMI Content Type: Sound Recording"

What should I do?

No action is required on your part. Your video is still available in the locations listed above. In some cases ads may appear next to your video.

What can I do about my video's status?

Please note that the video's status can change, if the policies chosen by the content owners change. You may want to check back periodically to see if you have new options available to you.

The controversial YouTube video was made only with the intention of being political satire.

In fact, this was the initial information submitted by the maker of the controversial YouTube, to protect the free expression nature of the video :

This video uses copyrighted material in a manner that does not require approval of the copyright holder. It is a fair use under copyright law. Copyright notice : Fair use of an excerpt of "Puppet On A String" by Sandie Shaw is claimed under applicable U.S. Copyright laws. The excerpt of the song was transformed into a political satire of the puppet-master relationship between New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and, as such, the appropriate use of the excerpt is different from the original song. This use is intended as a video version of an old-fashioned editorial cartoon.

This is perfect example of the First Amendment dangers of the SOPA (the "Stop Online Piracy Act") and PIPA (the "PROTECT IP Act") bills. The subject recording, "Puppet On A String," by Sandie Shaw, was excerpted for this video ; the entire song was not used. Rather, the song was split into 3 parts, with only the introduction and the second half of the song being used. This video does not purport to use the entire song, nor are the name of the artist and the title of the song used in the title of the controversial YouTube video. It is not known exactly when EMI and YouTube joined forces to block the >Christine Quinn Puppet Show video, but last week a replacement video was posted on DailyMotion :

CENSORED : True News From Change NYC Blog

Update : True News From Change NYC Blog Has Been Restored

Google Blogspot Blog Has Been Removed For No Reason ; Blogger Community Suspects Political Censorship ; Call To Action

True News From Change,Blogspot,Google,Censorship,Gary Tilzer

Please send an e-mail to press@google.com and copy Gary Tilzer, the owner of the censored blog, at Gtprinter@aol.com -- demanding that the True News blog be restored.

True News is a blog dedicated to reporting about government scandals, politics, and transparency. (Here is the cached version of the True News blog.)

This is not the first act of censorship against Mr. Tilzer. Before the 2010 election, a YouTube video that Mr. Tilzer produced was banned by NBC/YouTube and had to be replaced with an edited version. In the last couple of years, others have faced incidences of cyber censorship or retaliatory activity. One and a half months before the 2009 election, the YouTube channel owned by the artist and political commentator Suzannah B. Troy was likewise censored, until bloggers and a lawyer intervened on her behalf. In 2010, this blogger was attacked by computer viruses 3 or 4 times, including on the day this blogger reported to the New York Department of State Committee on Open Government an act of censorship committed by Brad Hoylman.

Flashback : Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hailed Internet freedom as tool to ‘spread truth and expose injustice’

We need your help to keep courageous bloggers, like Mr. Tilzer, doing what they do. If you are reading this, it is because you are turning to the Internet for reliable information. For it to be here, bloggers, like Mr. Tilzer, have to be able to do their work without fear of retribution or censorship.
