MoveOn.org Challenges Christine Quinn Over Paid Sick Leave

Below is an excerpt of an e-mail I received yesterday from MoveOn.org :

Below is an email from Cari Jackson, a MoveOn member in New York who created a petition at SignOn.org that is getting a lot of attention and may be of interest to people in your area.

Dear New York City MoveOn member,
An estimated 1.3 million workers in New York City lack a single day of paid sick leave. When they or their children get sick, they have two choices: Risk losing their job, or go to work sick and spread whatever they have to everyone else.
The Paid Sick Time Act, which would guarantee all New Yorkers 5 to 9 paid sick days and would allow all workers to use their days when a child is ill, has the support of 80% of New Yorkers and a majority of the city council.
But New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has single-handedly blocked this bill from even coming up for a vote. That's why I created a petition to Speaker Quinn on SignOn.org, which says:
Stop blocking the Paid Sick Time Act. New Yorkers need time off when they or or their children are sick.

Thanks!
