Former Bronx Democratic Borough President Adolfo Carrion lacks the support necessary from city Republican Party leaders to run for mayor on the GOP line — at least for now.
Under state law, Carrion, who switched his party enrollment from Democrat to unaffiliated, needs the backing of three of the city’s five county Republican leaders in order to run in the GOP primary.
However, the GOP leaders, who met on Staten Island Thursday night, are divided. Carrion has the support of two party leaders — a vote short to compete in the GOP primary.
